AV-Rated Health Care Counsel. 25-Year Lawyer. Former Federal Prosecutor.

Lee Little as over 25 years of experience as an attorney. She is former federal prosecutor. Lee is General Counsel at Augusta University Medical Center. She is also a partner of Hamil Little and works collaboratively with our legal team to provide her expertise in certain matters, which may include counseling and representing physicians, significant medical practices and other healthcare providers, business owners, high level professionals and successful entrepreneurs. Most of her engagements by our clients have involved legal issues in the healthcare sphere that are regulatory, transactional, employment or litigation based. For example, Lee has played a vital role in our firm’s handling of physician contracting, set up of concierge/direct pay medical practices, compliance plans and compliance disputes, professional credentialing issues, fraud and abuse investigations, HIPAA and security issues, partnership disputes and business dissolution, and employment law matters. Lee is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association and American Health Lawyers Association.

In protecting and advocating for our clients, Lee has drawn on her rare, sought-after experience as a federal trial attorney with the Department of Justice, where she prosecuted fraud and high level white collar criminal cases in federal court; extensive in-house counsel and interim General Counsel experience with a major health sciences university, Augusta University (f/k/a Georgia Regents University); two years clerking for two Superior Court Judges (Hon. Albert Pickett and Hon. Carlisle Overstreet, in Augusta, Georgia); and, most importantly, years in the trenches of private law practice representing healthcare providers, businesses and individuals.

In her position at GRU, Lee worked closely with University leaders at a complex and growing consolidated university with an active academic health center; and collaboratively with the General Counsel's office for Georgia Regents Health System, a medical center affiliated with GRU. Her experience included clinical practice, professional credentialing, by-laws, medical staff privileges and discipline, outside professional activity, medical malpractice and defense, employment law and training, compliance and other administrative matters, research, higher education, health law, policy, regulation and contracts.
